As promised, here are the cocktail recipes from Ladies’ Night. Thanks again to Blake Engleman of Vintage 1740 Wine Bar at 18th & Boston for his presentation. And thanks to all of you for attending. Cheers!

Classic Daiquiri

2 ounces Flor de Cana white rum

1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice

½ ounce simple syrup

Combine ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe or martini glass.

To Have and Have Not

1.5 ounces Lustau Fino Sherry

¾ ounce Mezcal

½ ounce pineapple juice

½ ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice

Combine ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe or martini glass.

 


This year's Ladies' Night theme is "Taste of the Tropics." Matt Sanders of Vintage 1740 Wine Bar will team up with Paul James to prepare and present tasty tropical treats from the bar, and we'll also be serving island-inspired hors d'oeuvres. Plus, we'll be giving away Southwood merchandise AND we've got at least one surprise in store (Hula Dancing, anyone?).

The cost for the event is $10, all of which will go to the school of your choice (indicate your school choice when you register). Southwood will match your donation dollar for dollar, and send the school a gift card (to be used toward science projects, school gardens, whatever they like!). Let's all show our support for area schools and let them know we care!
