TREES - In the last week, we’ve received dozens of beautiful shade and ornamental trees in a variety of sizes. One of our favorites is the not-so-well-known Japanese Snowbell (Styrax japonica). Available in standard and weeping forms with white or pink flowers that appear in spring, this is a stunning, absolutely beautiful tree that’s easy to grow and carefree. SHRUBS - From familiar spring-bloomers like Azaleas and Loropetalum, Lilacs and Chokeberries, we’ve got shrubs for every site and situation. For something different, consider the evergreen Distylium and for shade the fabulous Fothergilla. For a hot, dry spot try Hypericum, better known as St. John’s Wort. It features blue velvet (and aromatic) leaves, golden flowers in summer, and red berries in fall. (Pictured is Fothergilla)
ANNUALS - Adding color to your garden is easy with annuals. Just this week we received our first batch of Southwood Grown Petunias as well as other favorites such as Bacopa, Million Bells (Calibrachoa), Geraniums, Nemesia, African Daisies (Osteospermum), Gold Dust (Mecardonia) , Snow Princess, and Sunpatiens. And for containers, we’ve got Spikes, Asparagus Ferns, Vinca major, and Creeping Jenny. (Pictured is Bubblegum Petunia)
PERENNIALS - The list is long, but you really should check out the newly arrived Allium ‘Millenium,’ a terrific ornamental onion that’s oh-so easy to grow. It’s also the 2018 Perennial Plant of the Year. For sunny locations, we’ve also got Baptisia, Daylilies, Gaillardia, Gaura, Phlox, Salvia and much more. For the shade, we’ve got Astilbe in a variety of colors, the beautiful Brunnera ‘Jack Frost,’ Ferns, Hellebores, and Hostas. (Pictured is Allium 'Millenium')
CONIFERS - A brand new shipment of conifers arrived last week from famed grower Iseli Nursery, and everything in it looks awesome, of course. Choose from various Arborvitae, Chamaecyparis, Cryptomeria, Pines, and Spruces. And while you’re at it, check out the new shipment of miniature and dwarf conifers as well. (Pictured is Hinoki Cypress)
JAPANESE MAPLES - An assortment of fantastic-looking Japanese Maples was in the Iseli shipment as well, including upright and weeping varieties with red, green, orange, and variegated leaves. And seriously, don’t you think every landscape should have at least one Japanese Maple? Yeah, we think so too.
