Production Analyst

The Production Analyst is responsible for directing the overall planning, scheduling, purchasing of the department to provide high quality products to the ultimate consumer. This individual also works within and helps form a fiscal budget. He/she also coordinates duties with other departments through effective communication to ensure consistent customer experiences with Southwood and works within the framework of the policies and procedures manual.

Responsibilities and Duties

Works with buyers to develop crop plans to support retail and landscape sales using Microsoft Excel, SQL Databases, or other software. ● Analyzes sales and crop success rates to suggest production plans for upcoming seasons. ● Oversees inventory control of plant production, including purchase order tracking, matching and entry, receipting, production planning, monitoring plant production, conducting physical inventories. ● Assists in developing and implementing cost accounting strategies for Southwood-grown products. ● Embraces the company culture and conducts self in a professional manner that reinforces the company mission, vision, and core values. ● Works with vendors to identify new products. Attends trade shows to gain knowledge and understanding of the industry. ● Develops and manages an annual operating budget. ● Assures safe, neat, clean, and proper working order of equipment and facilities, working directly with appropriate staff and vendors. Addresses safety considerations to minimize accidents. ● Keeps General Manager informed, presents various reports, and makes recommendations regarding foreseen variances. ● Completes special projects and performs other duties as requested.


At least intermediate level of Microsoft Excel experience required. SQL experience preferred. ● Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or horticulture, AND ● Three to five years relevant experience OR ● Combination of education and/or experience to meet the qualifications listed above.

Landscape Crew Member

Under the direction of the Landscape Crew Leader, the Crew Member is responsible for assisting in the implementation of landscape projects and various other related duties.

Responsibilities and Duties

Loads plants, materials and tools necessary for implementation of each day’s work, to prevent unnecessary return trips to the nursery. ● Installs plants and materials on landscape projects, in a culturally appropriate manner, to ensure serviceability of plant material and a professional appearance of the project. ● Operates equipment and handles tools necessary for implementation of the landscape project, in a safe and efficient manner, to expedite the completion of the project and to ensure safety. ● Assists in keeping the project site as clean as possible, and assists in leaving the site clean and free of debris at the end of each day, to avoid unnecessary liability and inconvenience at clients’ property. ● Assists in unloading trucks at the end of each day and in returning plants and materials to their proper places, to prevent the build-up of debris, and to ensure the health of the plant material.


One to two years’ experience in the green industry but not required

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

Requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, balancing and lifting up to 100 pounds. ● Repeated hauling of loads up to 150 pounds in a wheelbarrow of distances up to 100 ft., and up a 30% incline onto a truck bed. ● Repeated use of proper hand tools as necessary to perform the planting of trees, shrubs and other plant materials in the methods approved by Southwood. ● Exposure to fertilizers and pesticides. ● Work environment is a combination of indoors in a greenhouse and outdoors in all types of weather including extreme heat, cold, and various types of precipitation.
